Southeast District Officers Arrest Suspect in Eastern Avenue Shooting Homicide Investigation

On July 11, members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested 20-year-old Kerin Aviles-Alvarez of Baltimore in a residence located on the 300 block of Hornel Street.

Detectives believe that Aviles-Alvarez shot and killed 21-year-old Edgar Bonilla on April 3, 2023, in the 6300 block of Eastern Avenue.

Aviles-Alvarez was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first-degree murder and various handgun violations.

On the day of the incident, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Southeast District officers with the Baltimore Police Department responded to the 400 block of Imla Street to investigate a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers observed Bonilla suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred in the 6300 block of Eastern Avenue.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed control of the investigation.
