Liteeaf Peterson, 25, was acquittted by a jury on May 22 on all counts but one in Baltimore City Circuit Court. The trial concluded a day prior. Jurors were unable to reach a verdict on the charge of firearm use in a violent crime.

Peterson was initially charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use, and related firearm charges for an April 29, 2024 shooting on the 400 block of South Pulaski Street that left a woman with a gunshot wound to her left big toe.

While investigating, police discovered the woman was not the intended victim of the shooting. The prosecution alleged Peterson had tried to shoot an older man who was in the area at the time. The man, who is currently incarcerated on felony charges, was one of several witnesses to take the stand and testify against Peterson during the trial.

Judge Erik S. Atas presided over the trial. No further hearings are scheduled in this matter.
