Shooting Detectives Seeking Answers in Non-Fatal Shooting on Payson Street

Western District shooting detectives with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) have assumed control over the investigation of a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Feb. 28.

On Tuesday, at approximately 01:30 a.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 500 block of Payson Street to investigate a reported shooting. 

When officers arrived at the location, officers located a 22-year-old victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the hand. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation found that the victim heard a noise at his rear door, prompting him to investigate. When he opened the door, he saw an unidentified individual with a firearm. During the incident, the victim was shot in the hand while attempting to remove the suspect’s weapon from him. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.
