The sentencing hearing for a 17-year-old defendant was postponed in Baltimore City Circuit Court on July 3.
Key’Shawn Shaw, who was charged as an adult, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and firearm use in a felony violent crime in relation to an incident that occurred on Sept. 28, 2022.
During the hearing, Shaw’s defense attorney Roland Harris said that an expert witness he planned on calling would not be available until the afternoon and asked for a postponement.
The prosecution agreed, since they “realistically needed more time” to look over the witness’ report. Both attorneys also expressed that they would like more time looking over school records they had just received.
After Harris checked that the witness could make the date, Judge Videtta A. Brown granted the postponement for Sept. 4 at 9:30 a.m.
