On Nov. 20, counsel before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn could not come up with a trial date for a 21-year-old murder defendant.

Kerin Alvarez is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm as a minor and having a handgun on his person in connection to the April 3 death of Edgar Bonilla

Because the prosecutor in the case was still waiting on witnesses to give their availability, she could not come up with any possible trial dates with defense attorney James Sweeting III

Judge Phinn continued the hearing to Dec. 8, when counsel will pick an amenable date.

According to a Baltimore Police Department press release, Alvarez was arrested in July for the murder of 21-year-old Bonilla on the 6300 block of Eastern Avenue in Bayview.
