A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge postponed scheduling a trial date for 34-year-old homicide defendant Kevin Hall because the prosecutor was unavailable.
Defense attorney William Buie argued against the postponement on Dec. 13 before Judge Melissa Phinn; however, due to the assigned assistant state’s attorney’s schedule, the judge rescheduled Hall’s case for reception court on Jan. 13, 2023, when a trial date is expected to be scheduled.
“I don’t think it should take this long. My client has been incarcerated for two years,” Buie told the judge.
Hall’s case was briefly discussed in April during the trial of his co-defendant, Terrell Carter, who was found not guilty of multiple counts of murder, attempted murder, assault, and several weapons charges.
Hall is facing thirty similar charges.
During Baltimore Witness’ coverage of Carter’s trial, counsel discussed the fatal shooting of Antoine Crowder on Oct. 10, 2020, on the 4200 block of Erdman Avenue. The prosecution said the shooting stemmed from a stolen cell phone, which prompted Carter and Hall to shoot Crowder, but instead, accidentally shoot a bystander.
