A plea offer was presented to a 24-year-old homicide defendant on Aug. 31 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Baltimore resident Danjuan McBride is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, and two counts of firearm posession with a felony conviction.
According to the Baltimore Sun, McBride allegedly shot 32-year-old Tavonte Briggs on the 300 block of Franklintown Road around 1 p.m. on July 25, 2020. Briggs was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
McBride was on probation for previous charges of assault when the incident occurred.
On Tuesday, the prosecution presented the offer of life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years probation for first-degree murder; 20 years, served concurrently, for firearm use in a violent crime; and 15 years with the first five without parole, also served consecutively, for firearm use with a felony conviction.
The case is scheduled to return to reception court on Oct. 19.
McBride’s case was originally scheduled for reception court on Aug. 24 but was postponed due to his attorney’s absence.
