During reception court at Baltimore City Circuit Court, it was revealed that a defendant on the docket died in April.

Devin Turner, 27, was charged in connection to an incident that took place on Feb. 20, 2019.

He was facing charges of attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, felony use of a firearm in a violent crime, reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, carrying a gun within 100 feet, firing a gun within the city, and illegal possession of ammunition.

The prosecution revealed on Friday that she was having a hard time getting a hold of a death certificate in order to confirm the defendant’s death. She indicated that she had a police report showing the details of his death.

Judge Melissa M. Phinn said that once the prosecutor obtained the death certificate, the charges would be dismissed.
