The prosecution dropped all charges against a 48-year-old attempted murder defendant in Baltimore City Circuit Court May 28.
Gregory Barnes was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, possession of firearms after a controlled dangerous substance conviction, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and reckless endangerment for allegedly shooting at his girlfriend on Dec. 2, 2023.
The prosecutor dropped the charges against Barnes because the victim did not cooperate with the investigation, and failed to appear before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy.
Defense attorney Koryn High said she would advise Barnes, who was detained at the courthouse, of the case’s status off the record.
Charging documents state Barnes’ girlfriend told Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers that he tried to shoot at her through her window on the 1500 block of Elmtree Street, in the Curtis Bay neighborhood, because he thought she was unfaithful.
