Police Seeking Answers after Pedestrian Reportedly Struck by Vehicle on Spruce Street

On March 17, at approximately 11:48 a.m., officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to the 1600 block of Spruce Street to investigate a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian, later identified as 52-year-old Doris Crawford, was transported by medics to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma, and she was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

Due to the death of Crawford, CRASH team investigators assumed control over the investigation.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the striking vehicle was traveling southbound on Pennington Avenue attempting to make a left-hand turn on Spruce Street when Crawford crossed Spruce Street going southbound when she was struck.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with detectives.
