Police Release Footage from 2nd Officer-Involved Shooting in August

On Aug. 19, the Baltimore Police Department released Body Worn Camera footage of the second officer-involved shooting that happened in August. Unlike the first, the second shooting was not fatal.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said the suspect, Baltimore resident Terrance Tyrone Hillman, pointed a gun at a crowd of people and then again at an officer before he was shot on Aug. 12.

Harrison said it seemed as though there was an attempt to fire the gun, but it did not shoot. However, Harrison said that there is no way of knowing whether the suspect attempted to fire the gun in the crowd, at the officer or if the attempt happened before the incident.

According to a press release, officers were in the 400 block of East Baltimore Street when they said they heard gunfire and observed Hillman pointing a gun at a group that was fighting in the street.

Hillman initially ran away, but then, as seen on the video, turns toward the officer with his gun drawn.

Hillman received treatment for his wound at an area hospital and was transported to Central Booking for charges stemming from this case and additional outstanding warrants.

According to Maryland Judiciary Case Search, Hillman was on probation for a robbery conviction he received in November of 2020.
