Two dead juveniles were located in an apartment on the 500 block of Coventry Road on Aug. 24.
According to a press conference held on Aug. 25, the bodies of the juveniles were in a state of decomposition with physical trauma. An exact cause and time of death have not been determined.
The victims are 6-year-old Da’neria Thomas and an 8-year-old Davin Thomas.
During the conference, Baltimore Police Chief Michael S. Harrison said the 28-year-old mother, Jameria Hall, is the suspect in this case. The commissioner said she confessed to murdering her children and is in custody. The commissioner said the how and why of the homicide is still being investigated.
The mother and children were reported missing in 2018, which was possibly connected to an arson case. Harrison said the police learned about that case recently. The three were found at a hospital the next day. Harrison said the investigation will also look into the mother’s past. Hall was convicted of first-degree arson and sentenced to probation.
As investigators work to positively identify the victims, they urge anyone with information to call the Homicide Section at (410) 396-2100.

This is an unfathomable, gut wrenching tragedy. My entire heart and prayers go out to the family, the community and really the entire city,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said, explaining that those kids should be starting school on Monday. “When you think about a tragedy like this, you think about having all that’s right in the world, young people, [their] energy, their voices, their laughter being snuffed out in a moment.”
Harrison said detectives will pursue criminal charges against the mother in this case.
Her case is slated to be heard in District Court on Aug. 26.
According to the Maryland Judiciary site or the District Court of Baltimore lists her charges as first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 21.
