A non-fatal shooting defendant pleaded guilty Sept. 17, accepting a seven-year sentence.

Allen Brown pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, transport of a firearm, and discharging a firearm.

Brown, 33, was charged in connection to a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred June 28, 2023. Charging documents note he was seen on security camera footage pulling a large firearm from a black bag and firing it on the 5300 block of Valiquet Avenue. A Baltimore Police Department (BPD) tactical team later recovered a .223-caliber firearm that matched cartridge casings found at the scene.

Defense attorney Brandon Mead claimed evidence suggests Brown was shot at first, and moved to amend Brown’s indictment sheet to reflect his statement. Though the prosecution disagreed with Mead’s account, the prosecutor agreed to allow the motion to pass.

Brown previously rejected a 15-year plea offer, suspending all but eight years, during a reception court hearing on June 16.

Since Brown was incarcerated in Baltimore City prior to the sentencing, he earned credit for his time served. With this credit, he only has to serve 3 years, 2 months, and 9 days.

Tavon Jones and Tyree Green, both 24, were also charged in the case with attempted murder, assault, firearm use, and related gun violations. Green was found not guilty on Aug. 21. Jones is scheduled for a jury trial on Sept. 24 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Schiffer.
