A Baltimore man charged with murder had his hearing continued before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Nov. 30.

Defense counsel Creston Smith, representing Shae-von Edward, complained about the postponement of his client’s trial, which he said is now on its fourth prosecutor. A date for trial was unable to be determined on Wednesday.

During the hearing, 23-year-old Edward rejected a plea offered by the prosecution of life, suspending all but 60 years for first-degree murder and an additional sentence of life, suspending all but 20 years with five years of probation for attempted first-degree murder.

All parties will reconvene on Dec. 14 before Judge Phinn to decide a trial date.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Edward is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun in a vehicle on a public road, having a handgun on his person in connection with a crime perpetrated on June 2, 2020.

Edward is charged with allegedly shooting 51-year-old Roderick Daniels and an unidentified 35-year-old man on the 5600 block of Haddon Avenue. Daniels died of his injuries at Sinai Hospital.
