Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John A. Howard sentenced an Owings Mills man to 30 years in prison, suspending all but 15, for the fatal shooting of his girlfriend on Oct. 21.
Gabriel Gomez-Fiorenza, 28, was convicted of second-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime in connection to the death of Amy Armstrong, 28, on Oct. 29, 2024. Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene on the 3700 block of Toone Street.
Gomez-Fiorenza pleaded guilty to the two charges the day prior, but sentencing was postponed to give both families time to prepare impact statements. The prosecution agreed to drop his third charge, possession of an assault weapon.
In addition to his prison term, Gomez-Fiorenza will also serve three years of supervised probation. Per Judge Howard’s orders, he will be required to avoid contact with Armstrong’s family and complete domestic violence counseling.
According to the charging documents, the shooting occurred after an argument between Gomez-Fiorenza and Armstrong turned violent. Following the shooting, Gomez-Fiorenza fled to his parents’ home, where he allegedly brandished an AR-15 assault rifle and threatened to kill himself before his family called 911.
