Officers Launch Investigation into Fatal Hit-and-Run on W. North Avenue

On March 17, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to the 1600 block of W. North Avenue to investigate a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The injured pedestrian was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

The pedestrian has been identified as 42 year-old Heidi Rose.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rose was crossing W. North Avenue when she was struck by a pickup truck that fled the scene.

A short time after Rose was struck, the pickup truck lost control, hitting a raised median and jersey wall.

The driver, a 48-year-old male, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

CRASH Team investigators responded and assumed control over the investigation.
