Officers Arrest Shooting Suspect After Creating Barricade

On June 13, at approximately 11:11 p.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 700 block of Poplar Grove Street in reference to a ShotSpotter alert.

Once there, Baltimore Police Department officers were advised of a possible armed person inside an apartment in that block.

After a temporary barricade, 23-year-old Cornelius Williams of Baltimore was taken into custody in the 700 block of Poplar Grove Street without incident.

Officers located a 57-year-old male at the location, suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Williams was transported to Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and various handgun violations.
