On Feb. 5, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled the jury trial of a 44-year-old man who admitted to police that he killed his fiancee in 2022.

George Kuhn is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and firearm possession with a felony conviction in connection to the death of 36-year-old Kristy Helmert

Judge Copeland said in reception court Monday that Kuhn had previously been incompetent to stand trial, but Judge Gale E. Rasin found him competent in October 2023.

Kuhn and defense attorney Natalie Finegar will next appear at his five-day trial beginning on June 24 before Judge Kendra Y. Ausby

Court documents state that Kuhn called the Baltimore Police Department on June 12, 2022, saying he shot and killed his fiancee while they were both inside her car on the 6400 block of Erdman Avenue.
