After multiple delays, discussions of a potential guilty plea and a denied postponement last week, the case of an 18-year-old attempted murder defendant was dismissed on Feb. 24 after the prosecution couldn’t locate the victim.
Kyree Brannon, 18, was previously charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and four firearm violations in connection to a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred on the 5800 block of Northwood Drive.
Last Friday, counsel had requested a postponement in Brannon’s case after the defendant’s attorney conveyed his client’s intent to plead guilty on Monday. Brannon had planned to speak with the victim over the weekend prior to entering his plea.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda A. Tanner expressed her frustration with the multiple delays in the case and denied the postponement, ordering counsel to begin jury selection instead.
After inclement weather on Monday, forced the court to close, the state’s attorney informed Judge Tanner she couldn’t locate the victim, and motioned Brannon’s charges.
