Northeast Officers Arrest Suspect in Shannon Drive Homicide Case

In reference to a homicide that occurred on May 24, in the Northeast District detectives have arrested 21-year-old Desron Barber of Baltimore.

Investigators learned that Barber shot 31-year-old Biancha Johnson on the 3200 block of Shannon Drive during a physical altercation involving Johnson and a group.

Barber was taken into custody on the scene following the incident.

On May 25, Barber was charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of Johnson.

On the day of the incident, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Northeast District patrol officers responded to an area hospital in reference to an aggravated assault victim.

Once there, officers located a 31-year-old female suffering from trauma to the body.

The victim was pronounced deceased by doctors.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a physical altercation in the 3200 block of Shannon Drive.

During the altercation, a male suspect fired a gun into the group, striking the victim.

Citizens transported the victim to an area hospital where she later died.

The victim’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office where the death was ruled as a homicide.
