On Aug. 18, at approximately 4:11 p.m., Eastern District officers responded to the 1400 block of North Decker Avenue in reference to a call for a reported shooting.
Once there, Baltimore Police Department officers located 26-year-old Donell Bristol suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics responded and transported the victim to an area hospital. Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives responded and assumed control over the investigation.

Update: As of Aug. 23, BPD has determined Bristol’s gunshot wounds were self-inflicted. This case has been removed from the department’s homicide statistics.
