North Curley Street Murder Defendant Receives Trial Date

A 33-year-old murder defendant received a trial date in a Baltimore City Circuit Court hearing on Oct. 4.

Defendant Jermaine Sanders is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, firearm use in a felony violent crime, first-degree assault, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle and firearm possession with a felony conviction for the 2020 murder of 30-year-old Kimberly McCubbin on the 500 block of North Curley Street.

The prosecution extended Sanders and defense attorney Donald Wright a plea offer of life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years of probation for first-degree murder, a concurrent sentence of 20 years, the first five without the possibility of parole for firearm use in a felony violent crime, a concurrent 25 years for first-degree assault and another concurrent term of 15 years, the first five years without the possibility of parole for firearm possession with a felony conviction. Sanders rejected that offer.

Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled Sanders’ five-day trial date to begin on Jan. 13, 2025.
