A non-fatal shooting defendant accepted a plea of time served for his involvement in a non-fatal shooting earlier this year.
The 26-year-old Baltimore resident was charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute, drug distribution with a firearm, having a handgun on his person, and discharging firearms.
On Nov. 29, the defendant accepted the prosecution’s plea of three years, suspending all but time served, and three years probation for having a handgun on his person before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Defense attorney Koryn High was present during the proceedings.
The prosecutor informed the court that around 5:30 p.m. on March 3, Baltimore Police Department officers were reviewing camera footage from North Fulton Avenue—an area known for drug trafficking—and saw the defendant reaching into his pocket and give an amount of suspected marijuana to another person.
When detectives attempted to approach the defendant, the prosecutor said, he started walking away and then began running away when he reached the next intersection. During the foot chase, police said they saw the defendant throw away what appeared to be a gun.
There was no mention of the defendant firing the weapon, despite being charged with discharging firearms.
The defendant was later arrested and taken to Central Booking.
