On April 11, non-fatal shooting defendant Randy Mackenzie received a May trial date from Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland after turning down a plea deal.

Mackenzie, 39, is currently charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, firing a gun in Baltimore City and reckless endangerment in connection to a July 14, 2023, incident.

For firearm possession with a felony conviction, the prosecution offered Mackenzie 15 years, suspending all but eight years, the first five years to be served without the possibility of parole. Mackenzie would also have to register as a gun offender and serve three years of supervised probation.

Mackenzie and his defense attorney, Sheri Scott-Redwood, rejected this offer.

Judge Copeland scheduled a trial date for May 22 before Judge Anthony F. Vittoria.
