A Baltimore resident was presented a plea offer during reception court on Sept. 20 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
A 31-year-old non-fatal shooting defendant is charged with possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, two counts of illegal possession of firearm, having a handgun on his person, firing a gun within the city, and illegal possession of ammo. He was charged in connection to an incident on July 7, 2020.
Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of five years without parole for illegal possession of a firearm.
The defendant and his defense attorney, Anne Stewart-Hill, have not yet accepted or declined the plea offer. The defendant waived his Hick’s rights, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance.
The trial date is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2022.
