A mistrial in the murder case of Levar Cooper, 44, was declared on Sept. 20, rescheduling the trial for February 2023.

Throughout the week-long trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Philip Jackson, Cooper maintained his innocence in the murder of 43-year-old Larry Alvin Randall Jr. in Pigtown on May 10, 2021. Baltimore Police later responded to the 1100 block of Washington Boulevard at W. Ostend Street, where they found Randall with gunshot wounds.

The prosecution’s case focused on the evidence against Cooper, specifically video surveillance that showed the shooting unfold as Cooper allegedly drove up to the victim, shot him, got out of the vehicle, and shot him once more.

Cooper’s new trial date is currently scheduled for Feb. 2, 2023.
