A 27-year-old man accused of killing a woman while on the highway received a trial date in early 2025 due to both the defense and the prosecution conducting additional investigations.

Christopher Lee is charged with first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime for the death of 30-year-old Jazmyn Reed on Jan. 14.

Defense attorney Lawrence Greenberg told Judge Melissa K. Copeland on Sept. 24, “Within the last seven days, we’ve been provided extreme amounts of [evidence].”

During a hearing before Judge Jeffrey M. Geller Monday, Greenberg’s co-counsel Brice Baker enumerated the late disclosures, which included expert witnesses and hundreds of jail call recordings.

In reception court Tuesday, counsel agreed to schedule Lee’s case for a five-day trial beginning Jan. 6, 2025. The several monthslong delay, Greenberg explained, was necessary because the prosecution was pursuing additional forensic testing, which may require the defense to find an additional expert to testify.

No judge has been assigned to preside over the case.

A Baltimore Police Department press release stated Lee was arrested after Reed was found suffering a fatal gunshot wound in the car with him on the I-83 northbound Chase Street exit. Investigators believed a verbal argument led to the shooting.
