As Eric Morris’ murder trial opened on May 28 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Martin Schreiber II, defense attorney James A. Johnston chose to reserve his opening statement for a later point in proceedings.
Morris, 39, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, and firearm possession as a prohibited person in connection to the fatal shooting of Wayne Archer, Jr. on Dec. 10, 2020. The shooting occurred in the 2100 block of Garrison Boulevard.
The prosecution argued the shooting was premeditated and excessively brutal, as Archer was shot six times.
“Premeditation is easy,” they told the court. “He made a deliberate choice to shoot Wayne Archer – not once, not twice, but six times.”
The trial is set to continue through May 30 and conclude on June 4.
