On March 7, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn set the retrial date for a 21-year-old home invasion suspect.

Defense attorney Stephanie L. Salter informed the court on Tuesday that she had filed a motion for retrial in the case against Jaesiah Neal, following the acquittal of the related murder charges in October 2022. A mistrial was declared in connection to the charges of home invasion and conspiracy to home invasion.

The prosecution offered no plea during the hearing.

Judge Phinn scheduled Neal to appear before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Dana Middleton to start trial on July 17. The trial is expected to last two days.

According to Baltimore Witness, on Oct. 15, 2021, Neal was acquitted on all counts except home invasion and conspiracy to commit a home invasion, in which jurors did not render a verdict. The remaining charges are in connection to the incident that occurred on Oct. 15, 2021.

According to court documents, officers were called to the 5100 block of Curtis Avenue where Neal was accused of fatally shooting 22-year-old Tayshawn David, while he was in bed with Neal’s ex-girlfriend.
