Jibril Turner, 22, motioned to withdraw his guilty plea for murder and asked for a new trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles H. Dorsey III in a Sept. 22 hearing.
According to charging documents, On Sept. 10, 2025, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) detectives responded to a report of a shooting in the rear alley of the 2300 block of Ashland Avenue. The victim, identified as thirty-one-year old Charlton Morris, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Surveillance footage of the scene showed the victim being chased by a suspect who was shooting at him. The suspect was identified as wearing blue frayed jeans, a blue hoodie, and black shoes. Footage from another nearby camera showed four men walking together, including the suspect.
During the investigation, BPD officers showed witnesses videos and photographs of the suspect in the blue hoodie. They allegedly identified him as Jibril Turner.
Turner had originally accepted a plea of life suspending all but 30-to-50 years for first-degree murder and a concurrent 20 years, the first five years without parole for using a firearm in a felony or violent crime on May 19. He motioned to withdraw his acceptance, asking for a new trial.
Jibril Turner’s current attorney Roya Hanna offered the motions for consideration. Turner then asked to discharge Hanna as his attorney, which Judge Dorsey granted.
Turner’s next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6.
