Sentencing for Nasya Duvall, 27, was postponed on May 28 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer after the court determined a pre-sentencing investigation (PSI) report had not been filed in time.
Apparently, Judge Schiffer’s office did not receive the report until the day before the hearing, preventing the proceeding from moving forward as scheduled.
Duvall pleaded guilty last November to first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime in connection to the death of Dion Huff, 49, on Sept. 27, 2024.
Authorities arrested Duvall on Oct. 1. Though he initially faced charges of attempted murder, the charges were upgraded following Huff’s death on Oct. 5. Huff had been listed in critical condition after the shooting, and showed no brain activity in the days leading up to his death.
Both Huff’s and Duvall’s families were present in court for the hearing. During proceedings, Duvall directed smiles at his family.
Judge Schiffer scheduled a new hearing for Aug. 31.
Case records show the court postponed or cancelled multiple hearings in the case.
