Jury selection for the case of Andrew Curry, 24, was postponed during a hearing on June 13. Curry is accused of the first-degree murder of Desmond Gardner, 27, in a November 2023 shooting incident that occurred on the 3400 block of Spelman Road.

Standing in for defense counsel Natalie Finegar, attorney Stephanie Salter requested the hearing’s postponement due to Finegar’s unavailability. The prosecution deferred to Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland, who granted the request.

A status hearing was set for June 27 to give the prosecution time to interview their witnesses.

The deadline to bring Curry’s case to trial is July 8, within 180 days of his first court appearance, but the trial will likely take place after that. The prosecution will have to request a waiver from the court or demonstrate good cause to continue the case past the deadline.
