Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn declared a mistrial in the matter of homicide suspect Timothy Knott, 28, on April 17. The reason for the decision was not immediately disclosed, nor was Baltimore Witness able to get clarification from court officials.

Knott is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and related firearm charges in connection to the 2024 murder of Anthony Pearson, 43.

According to charging documents, Knott is believed to have shot and killed Pearson on April 29th, 2024, in the 4600 block of Garrison Boulevard. Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers recovered video footage from the crime scene that showed an individual identified as the defendant leaving the incident address and fleeing in a red Chrysler minivan.

Officers arrested Knott on April 30, 2024, and showed him still photographs from recovered surveillance footage. He allegedly agreed he was the man in the video and said the minivan belonged to him.

Knott is prohibited from possessing handguns due to a prior second-degree assault charge related to a domestic violence incident for which he was charged Nov. 3, 2021.

According to Maryland Judiciary Case Search, Knott is scheduled for two more hearings before Judge Phinn on April 18, one at 9 a.m. and another at 1 p.m.
