A medical examiner described her autopsy findings during a homicide trial on Nov. 14 in Baltimore City Circuit Court.

The defendant, 24-year-old Garry Morris is accused of murdering 20-year-old Amare Burruss in December 2022 during a drive-by shooting near the 4200 block of Pimlico Road.

Morris’s charges include two counts of first degree murder, firearm usage in a felony or violent crime, and handgun in a vehicle.

“I did both an external and an internal examination, and I discovered the bullet went from the top of Burruss’s head and downward through the body. Through the evidence I was able to determine that Burruss’s death was a homicide,” the expert said.

The prosecution claims DNA evidence links Morris to the crime.

Morris’s attorney Mary Patton rebutted the prosecution’s claim stating the evidence doesn’t link her client to the crime just because it’s a homicide.

Morris had two co-defendants 24-year-old Darrean Flemming and 22-year-old Wesley Lambert who were also accused of murdering Burruss during the same drive-by shooting.

Fleming, Morris and Lambert were allegedly parked in a gray Acura TL vehicle at the 4200 block of Pimlico Road, when one of them got out of the vehicle and shot Burruss in the head, according to a police report.

Flemming’s case ended in a mistrial and he is being tried again by the prosecution, whereas Lambert was found guilty for Burruss’s murder.

Morris’s case is being heard in front of Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy
