A 27-year-old Baltimore County man pleaded guilty to a 2023 drive-by shooting before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong on May 14.

Deangelo Fulton, of Reisterstown, Md., appeared with his attorney Staci Pipkin to plead guilty to first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person and firing a gun in Baltimore City for a June 4, 2023, incident.

The plea offer entailed 18 years, suspending all but seven years, for first-degree assault; a concurrent five years without the possibility of parole for firearm use in a felony violent crime, a concurrent three years for having a handgun on his person and a concurrent single year for firing a gun in Baltimore City. The prosecution dismissed all remaining charges. Fulton will be required to serve five years of supervised probation and register as a gun offender upon release.

The prosecution’s statement to support the plea explained that Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a Marathon gas station on the 1000 block of Orleans Street for a ShotSpotter alert. Surveillance footage showed the driver of a white Honda shooting out of his car and onto Lexington Street. A detective identified Fulton, who later confessed to the incident, though he claimed he only shot in self-defense.

Judge Hong sentenced Fulton per the plea agreement’s terms.

Fulton is on probation in the District Court of Maryland and will incur a charge of violating his probation for pleading guilty in this matter. He also has a pending murder case in Baltimore County, which is expected to go to trial in October.
