A Baltimore man involved in a manslaughter case rejected a plea offer on March 10 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Rodney Harris Jr., 29, is charged with manslaughter and first and second- degree assault in connection to an incident on April 4, 2018.
During reception court on Thursday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 10 years for manslaughter and 25 years for first-degree assault. The charges are set to run consecutively.
Harris and his defense attorney Brandon Mead, rejected the plea.
According to the Baltimore Sun, on April 4, 2018, officers were called to the 200 block of N. Dallas Court, after Harris assaulted his pregnant girlfriend “multiple times with his fist and kicked and punched her in the stomach for a period of twelve hours after an argument.” The assault resulted in the death of the unborn child.
Harris’ trial is scheduled for Nov. 9.
