The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) announced a shooting investigation in the Southern District.
On May 26, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Southern District officers responded to the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane to investigate the discharging of a firearm.
A short time later, they received an additional call for a hospital walk-in shooting victim seeking treatment.
Upon arrival at the hospital, officers located an 18-year-old male victim being treated for an apparent gunshot wound to the wrist.
The victim advised that he was walking in the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane when he heard gunfire and was shot. He is currently listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident, and an unidentified person was shooting out of the passenger side of one of the vehicles.
The two vehicles then crashed in the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane, and the suspects — the driver and passenger of one vehicle — fled on foot from the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle remained on the scene and did not suffer any injuries.
At this time, investigators believe the shooting victim was not involved in the incident, and one of the rounds fired from the vehicle struck him as he was walking.
Southern District shooting detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
