A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge set an October trial date for an attempted homicide defendant facing charges in connection to a shooting on N. Rose Street last year.
Prince Jackson, known as Nicole Jackson on the Maryland Judiciary website, appeared before Judge Melissa K. Copeland on June 27 when counsel informed her that neither would be available to proceed to trial. An assistant state’s attorney standing in for the assigned prosecutor said that the latter was currently trying another case, while defense attorney Mauricio Barreiro said he was currently hospitalized.
Counsel asked Judge Copeland to set Jackson’s four-day trial to begin Oct. 10 as a back-up before Judge Martin P. Welch to which she agreed.
The 46-year-old defendant is accused of shooting a 45-year-old man in the arm on Aug. 18, 2022, on the 500 block of N. Rose Street. He is currently facing attempted murder, assault, weapons, and drug charges in connection to the incident.
