Charles Meyers, 47, and defense attorney Roya Hanna appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Martin H. Schreiber II on July 22 to enter a guilty plea for the first-degree murder of his girlfriend, Krystal Praharnpap, last year.

On Dec. 17, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Quantril Way for the report of a domestic disturbance. Meyers allegedly smothered Praharnpap’s face with a plastic bag filled with items and wrapped an electrical cord around her body before fleeing the residence on foot.

Officers responded to the residence, and one who was familiar with the location due to multiple prior domestic reports yelled for Meyers to open the door and let him see Praharnpap.

Body-worn camera footage allegedly captured Meyers going upstairs and yelling for Krystal to wake up. Officers forced entry and found that Meyers had fled on foot.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., a little over an hour after officers’ initial response, Praharnpap was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses alleged they heard arguing coming from inside the residence, including sounds of Praharnpap being assaulted and screaming for help.

Meyers had prior assault charges at the time, and officers received approximately ten calls for service within the last year regarding his actions.

“He didn’t intend for this to go that far,” Hanna said regarding Praharnpap’s murder.

One of Praharnpap’s family members responded angrily saying “He didn’t need to kill her.”

Meyers was ultimately sentenced to life in prison, suspending all but 40 years. followed by five years of supervised probation upon release.

No further hearings are scheduled at this time.
