A 42-year-old Baltimore man accused of killing a 17-year-old and shooting two others during a home invasion was denied bail by Baltimore City Circuit Court on Feb. 8 Judge Jeannie Hong.
Lenny Epps is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of home invasion, two counts of the use of a firearm during a violent crime, three counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, second-degree attempted murder, and two counts of possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on Jan. 23, 2021.
During a bail review, Judge Hong listened as prosecutors informed the court that the defendant allegedly forced his way into the apartment unit on the 600 block of Lakewood Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. and began shooting. The prosecutor also said that all three residents were shot, leaving 17-year-old, Allisa Traylor, dead, and the two other victims suffered non-fatal injuries. Epps was identified as the shooter in a photo array.
In addition, the prosecutor added that Epps was living in a neighboring unit of the victims’ residence with his girlfriend. An alleged dispute between the defendant and one of the male victims took place two days prior to the fatal incident.
Epps appeared in court with his defense attorney, Ann Marie Gering, who requested her client be released on house arrest, living with his cousin.
Judge Hong deemed the defendant to be a threat to public safety and denied bail.
