The Baltimore Police Department charged a 37-year-old man with first-degree murder on Oct. 26 after he allegedly stabbed a man to death in front of his daughter earlier this year.

Nicholas Martinez Figueroa was arrested and charged on Tuesday and denied bail. He is currently being held at the Baltimore City Central Booking Intake Facility.

Police were first called about an assault around 9:10 p.m. on March 29 on the 200 block of Conkling Street, where they found 30-year-old Marcus Wilson with cuts on his face and stab wounds on his torso, a news release states. Medics arrived and took Wilson to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died soon after arriving.

During their investigation, homicide detectives learned that Wilson and his five-year-old daughter were skateboarding to a store to buy soda when Wilson “exchanged words” with Figueroa about skateboarding in the street. Figueroa allegedly stabbed Wilson several times in front of Wilson’s daughter.
