A 38-year-old Baltimore man charged in a non-fatal shooting was denied bail before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong on Feb. 22.
Bryant Foster is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Sept. 4, 2021.
During a bail hearing on Tuesday, Judge Hong listened as the prosecutor informed the court that the defendant allegedly chased the 39-year-old female victim in a domestic dispute down the 600 block of North Schroeder Street, shooting her multiple times in the back, saying, “Bitch, you better die.”
Foster’s defense attorney, Deonna Hayes, argued that the allegations against the defendant are serious but assured the court that Foster maintains his innocence. Hayes also mentions that the defendant is a father of two children, has no prior convictions, and is a long-life resident of Baltimore with ties to the community.
In addition, Hayes requested home detention where the defendant would stay with a family member on the opposite side of town from the victim.
According to a news release, officers were called to the 1000 block of Brantley Avenue for a shot spotter alert around 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2021. They found the victim suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
After listening to counsel, Judge Hong deemed the defendant a threat to public safety and denied bail.
Foster’s next hearing is scheduled for June 15.
