Malik Joseph, 28, received an Aug. 1 jury trial date before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on April 29.

Joseph is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use, reckless endangerment, and related firearm violations in connection to an Oct. 26, 2024 non-fatal shooting incident.

According to charging documents, officers responded to the 200 block of N. Eutaw Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a crime scene at the intersection of Eutaw and Lexington Streets consisting of two spent 9mm shell casings and a blood trail. A 25-year-old victim was located at Johns Hopkins Hospital, suffering a gunshot wound to the right hand.

Surveillance footage capturing the incident was also recovered. At approximately 1:10 p.m., a man later identified as Joseph was seen driving a red Nissan Sentra sedan into the intersection and opening fire toward the victim. CitiWatch cameras captured the vehicle’s tags moments before the shooting.

The same day, at approximately 6:03 p.m., detectives located the Sentra at a residence in the 3400 block of Trainor Avenue. The vehicle was towed to the Eastern District. Shortly after, detectives learned it was reported stolen earlier that day at approximately 4:03 p.m.

A witness is said to have positively identified Joseph as both the driver of the Nissan Sentra and the shooter.

Joseph, who is represented by defense attorney Jason P. Rodriguez, is set to stand trial for three days before Judge Troy K. Hill
