Following a three-day trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow, jurors convicted a 34-year-old man on charges of assault, reckless endangerment and four gun offenses for attempting to shoot a man in the head at a Fells Point apartment last summer.
Despite arguments from the state that the accused, Christopher Peacock, acted with conscious intent to kill during the June 20, 2025 shooting, jurors ultimately sided with the defense and acquitted the defendant of attempted murder.
Evidence and witness testimony revealed the shooting occurred at a gathering in an apartment unit on the 900 block of Fell Street, where investigators later recovered a cocaine-like substance and a rolled dollar bill with residue from the living room. When an argument broke out between several guests at the gathering, Peacock reportedly held a gun to the victim’s head and pulled the trigger.
The victim told investigators the gun failed to discharge, and that its magazine fell out onto the floor. Peacock then reinserted the magazine and successfully fired at the floor, causing other occupants to flee the apartment unit. No injuries were sustained in the gunfire.
Investigators also found in the living room two live .22-caliber cartridges that they later matched to a black Firefly GSG handgun of the same caliber. The gun was recovered shortly after the shooting, after officers allegedly recognized Peacock’s car on Thames Street and conducted a search.
Peacock, who is represented by defense attorney Augustine Okeke, is set to be sentenced May 8 before Judge Lazerow.
