Man Accused of Stabbing Ex’s Boyfriend Set for 2023 Retrial

The retrial for a man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in 2017 is scheduled for a retrial in the new year.

Jason Alcindor, 37, was sentenced to 30 years for second-degree murder in 2018 for the death of 44-year-old Timothy Campbell on June 5, 2017, at a gas station on the 2700 block of Washington Boulevard, the Baltimore Sun reported. The case was later remanded to Baltimore City Circuit Court based on the trial court’s error to inform the jury about standards of evidence.

On Aug. 22, the prosecution and defense attorney Matthew Connell agreed to retry the case on Jan. 30, 2023, which Judge Melissa Phinn scheduled before Judge Cynthia Jones.

Alex Nzive, Alcindor’s defense attorney during his first trial, told Baltimore Witness on Monday that he was assisting the public defender’s office in the retrial.
