A 20-year-old man accused of stabbing Sean Neal Malik Brown and leaving him to die in Hanlon Park last May was denied bail on Jan. 30 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.

According to the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), officers found the 21-year-old victim on the 2700 block of North Longwood Street around 2:19 p.m. on May 21, 2023. On Tuesday, the prosecutor told Judge Tanner that Brown was stabbed 23 times across his face and body.

Cahari Ferguson and his co-defendant, Tyrell White, are both charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for Brown’s death. Only Ferguson was scheduled for bail review on Tuesday.

During the proceeding, the prosecutor said there is evidence of Ferguson confessing to his participation in the stabbing to White, who allegedly witnessed the crime. District Court Judge Kate M. O’Hara recently denied Ferguson’s bail, he said.

Defense attorney Jeremy Eldridge, who stood in for Koryn High, said he represented Ferguson in the District Court bail review and said there were some issues regarding the credibility of one of the prosecution’s witnesses. Eldridge did not specify whether the witness was Ferguson’s co-defendant or another individual, but requested the defendant be released on home detention given he has no criminal record.

Judge Tanner said she saw no significant change in circumstances from bail review in District Court and denied Ferguson’s bail based on the seriousness of the charges.

Ferguson and White are currently scheduled to appear in reception court on May 8.
