Man Accused of Killing Two-Year-Old Daughter Gets September Trial Date

A 28-year-old infanticide defendant was given a September trial date by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland in an April 30 hearing.

Christopher Gamble is charged with second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, possession of a firearm without a serial number, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in his vehicle, reckless endangerment and altering physical evidence in connection to the death of his two-year-old daughter Charlee Gamble.

For involuntary manslaughter and firearm use in a felony violent crime, the prosecution offered Gamble 20 years in prison, suspending all but 10 years. The first five years would be served without parole followed by five years of supervised probation. Gamble would also not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with his other children.

The offer was tentative as the prosecution did not want to extend it formally.

Judge Copeland scheduled a three-day trial beginning on Sept. 25 before Judge M. Brooke Murdock.

Gamble was represented by defense attorney Sabrina Woods, who stood in for Robert Cohen.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, a Baltimore Police Department officer responded to a shooting involving a two-year-old child. The child’s father, later identified as Gamble, took her to the hospital, where she was treated for a possible gunshot wound to the head and later succumbed to her injuries.

An investigation revealed that while at their family home on the 6000 block of Park Heights Avenue, the child was shot one time between her eyes and transported to Sinai Hospital before Gamble returned back to the home and picked up her mother.

Gamble was arrested on Dec. 20, 2023.
