A Baltimore man charged with fatally stabbing 28-year-old James Brown accepted a plea of 20 years incarceration on May 15 rather than proceed with his scheduled jury trial.
In agreement with the prosecution, 24-year-old Jeramey Barron and his defense attorney, Brandon Patterson, accepted a plea of life, suspending all but 20 years for first-degree murder and five years of supervised probation. Under the plea, the defendant is also required to have no contact with Brown’s family.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda Tanner also agreed to the terms of the plea during Monday’s proceedings.
CBS Baltimore previously reported that Baltimore Police found Brown with multiple stab wounds inside his home around 12:40 a.m. on the 3800 block of Brooklyn Avenue on Sept. 5, 2020. Investigation revealed that the stabbing was the result of a dispute between Brown and Barron.
