Man Accused of Attempted Murder, Rejects Plea, Receives June Trial Date

After rejecting a plea offer, an attempted murder defendant received a June trial date from Baltimore City Circuit Judge Judge Melissa K. Copeland in an April 16 hearing.

Diante Wilson, 26, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit both robbery and armed robbery, as well as theft valued under $100.

Wilson is also charged with two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, two counts of conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, carrying a loaded handgun, conspiracy to carry a loaded handgun and two counts of possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to a Sept. 30, 2023, incident.

The prosecution offered Wilson a total sentence of 16 years, the first five years to be served without the possibility of parole. He would also be required to register as a gun offender.

Wilson and his attorney Christopher O’Meara declined the offer.

Judge Copeland scheduled a four-day trial beginning on June 4 before Judge Timothy J. Doory.

According to a Baltimore Police Department (BPD) press release, on Sept. 30, 2023, patrol officers responded to the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue to investigate a shooting where they located a 34-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the right forearm.

Wilson was arrested for his alleged involvement in the incident on Nov. 1, 2023.
