Jury selection in the retrial of murder suspect Idris Ramos, 52, began July 6 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Michael A. DiPietro.
Ramos, represented by defense attorney Deborah Warner-Dennis, is charged with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon in connection to a June 21, 2025 fatal stabbing.
According to charging documents, police responded to the 100 block of S. Broadway and found 39-year-old Tyrell Curtis unresponsive with a stab wound. Curtis was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased despite lifesaving measures.
Prior to trial proceedings, the prosecution extended a plea offer to Ramos on the charge of second-degree murder, proposing either a fixed 25-year sentence or a term of 20-to-30 years at the judge’s discretion. Ramos declined the offer, electing to proceed with a jury trial.
Opening statements will commence once the jury is selected.
